Fun and adventure always ensues when family arrives for a visit. Kathryn, Chris, Lorna, Landon and Kate arrived on the 28th to spend 8 CRAZY days on Ankers Away. Lots of fun in the sun was planned!!!
First out of the gate…Junkanoo at Sea Spray Resort and Marina on Elbow Cay. Junkanoo is like a family-friendly Mardi Gras. Sure, there is alcohol and dancing but there are no beads and no “show me your….” At the Sea Spray event it was a competition between 3 Junkanoo bands (which include the dancers). Since it didn’t really get started until 9-ish and we are a group of the very young and very wimpy, we only saw the Spring City Rockers.
They move fast so all my pictures are blurry.
I think you get the idea of the costumes. The kids were getting there ideas, too, for Junior Junkanoo that happened on New Year’s Eve.
Kate and Lorna are in the pink and blue shirts with the statfish. Landon is behind Kate.
No trip to the Abacos is complete without lunch at Pete’s Pub in Little Harbour. While their signature drink is The Blaster, Jay and I recommend their Bloody Mary!! AMAZING! Oh, and the coconut crack conch is to die for!!! And ask Wellington to show you how to throw the ring just right to get it on the hook!
Landon sailed down to Pete’s with us and manned the fishing rod.
Eileen, Jay and Ray at Pete’s Pub.
Lorna in the hat that I knitted for her for Christmas. Check out her cool shades and braids.
While at Pete’s Pub a local was selling conch so we bought it, Jay chopped it up, and Kathryn made conch salsa.
We were able to anchor in Bucaroon Bay and go snorkeling. Sorry, no one had an underwater camera so no pictures. You’ll just have to trust us that it was beautiful! We saw a stingray and lots of parrotfish and angelfish. There was even a barracuda sighting.
Our last stop was Great Guana Cay to try there signature drink at Grabbers…called a Grabber. Excellent! But the mosquitos and noseeums ruled the beach that night so we ate on the boat. Rummikub was the game for this trip and lots of tournaments were played. If I had to guess, I would say that Kate was the over all winner…but we won’t mention why!
We were sad to see them go ,but we think they were very excited to get back to their friends and tell them all about their adventures!!

I love it! I esp like the drink recommendations at each leg of the trip!
My style!
Glad to see and read about your good time! Hey, way to throw a knitted item into the report!
