Hello, again, Dirk!

The Postmaster has seen me more in the last few days than in the last few months!

On Wednesday I sent off my niece’s birthday dress.

Again, maybe a little longer than I wanted but I’ll let her mother decide if it needs to be shortened.  In general, I am very pleased at how it came out.

This is an upclose of the button I crochet using the tutorial on Crochet Me.

Then this morning I dropped this in the mail:

My Sockapalooza 4 Pal’s socks with a few goodies: Knitpick’s Memories in Cape Cod, a sock blocker keychain with tiny sock made with same yarn as her socks, SOAK minis, and notebook.  I hope she enjoys and, most importantly, the socks fit!  (These also qualified for Summer of Socks 07)

Tuesday I took a class and made this:

Please pardon the area around the step. I would love to say that we are in the middle of a remodeling, but, in fact, we just pulled up the railing that seperated the den from the diningroom and are now just in a holding pattern. Who knows when we will get the time to continue.  Anyway, I just love my new stair step basket!!  Even though you are looking at the only 2 steps in my house I just had to have this basket!

This is what it looked like until about 10 seconds after I got home:

Now it is filled with my knitting magazines and some yarn. Surprise!!

I continue to work on my VLC and several pairs of socks.  I hope to have update pictures soon!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Warning: INCREDIBLE CUTENESS!

I felt I had to give proper warning for the pure sugar overload you will get from this post.

I am happy to finally be able to share with you the project I recently finished.

model and recipient: Viola (daughter of Bethany and Kevin) (also wearing a cardi knit by her mother)

pattern: Dress with Eyelets from Debbie Bliss’ Baby Knits for Beginners

yarn: Madarin Petit in colors #5121 and #5936

needle: Addi Naturas 40″ US 5 and 6 (I think–I know it was larger than called for in the pattern to get gauge)

thoughts:   The only change I made was to use seed stitch on the edgings instead of the garter stitch called for.  This is the second time I’ve completed this pattern and I find it fast and easy and very satisfying!  There is suppose to be a ribbon running through the eyelets but Auntie T (that would be me) was so excited to get this to Vi that that little detail was forgotten.

hat pattern: Ruffle Brimmed Granny Style Skull Cap by Chelle Grissam from Crochet Me Website

yarn: same as above used doubled

hook: F, I think

thoughts: Added the flowers to keep the brim out of her face (I thought the cotton would make the hat very heavy)

I didn’t fight too hard to get proper pictures of the dress on her (hoping to get those at some point), so here are some pictures taken before I gave it to her.

trying something new

I’m really frustrated with Blogger.  I find it very hard to get anything to be where I want it to be.  But I know that it could just be me.  I thought I would try another blog site to determine if I just need to put up with pictures in the wrong place and huge blank areas.

The post I was trying to put up is this:

Well, so far it seems to be more user-friendly.

OK, so I’m bummed cause the throw you see above might not ever be seen again.  I mailed it to my grandmother last Monday and she hasn’t gotten it!  Even with all the ice we’ve had, I can’t believe it would take this long.  I’m so sad!

In memorial, a couple more shots of it:

pattern: Heirloom Baby Blanket from Crochet Today Magazine (Aug/Sept ‘06)

yarn: Plymouth Dreambaby DK

hook: G (one size larger than called for because I wanted it to be a sizable lap blanket)

This is the second time I have made this pattern.  The first was for a friend’s baby and I sent it off so quickly that I didn’t get pictures taken.  Just squint and imagine a soft antique pick.

Alright, off to see how this posts and think about if I’m going to switch.
